WOW if you like a cosy and friendly pub with a traditional feel this is the place for you. It has friendly and helpful staff and is children friendly.The carvery was an amazing feast and very worth the price, the meat selection from gammon, lamb and beef (beef offered rare, medium and well done); plenty of veg to choose from too.
Meal was okay but could have been a whole lot better. Not really very good value for money. Restaurant prices in a pub. Won't be rushing back. Don't have the peas!! I have never had anything like it.
The lovely girl behind the bar was amazing. A colleague had phoned in sick and she was the only staff member, she serving behind the bar, taking food orders and waiting tables, all with a Smile, to a packed pub of punters. We arrived at 7.30pm, party of 4. Ordered drinks and food. It's the first time I have had a Prawn cocktail in a while, this one consisted of a chuck of iceberg lettuce topped with prawns in sauce. That's was it. Lettuce not shredded or any cucumber (apparently ran out - go figure) or tomatoes. Left room for desert, only to be told - no desert. Kitchen closed, chef has left. The experience was below par, not like the experience we had encountered in the year before. Thank goodness for the lovely girl. So pleasant and approachable.
Full of atmosphere. Real oldie-worldy inn amidst beautiful countryside. Excellent food and reasonably priced. Highly recommended
Sunday lunch... Fantastic place, carvery was superb plenty of choice, piping hot and the chef who carves is the most pleasant. The place is old and had lots of character... Alongside a more modern dining room. Definitely a find.
