Good value accommodation and reasonable food and beer good place to stay
It's looking a bit jaded now and needs a refurb! I think also the Railway would benefit from the kitchen being open offering good old pub grub and a decent ploughman's lunch! Obviously this is only my opinion!
The Railway inn! Having lived in Belper for a number of years The Railway Inn was a pub I never visited. Well, i can now say I've been in recently during the Belper Food Festival. The new landlords are fantastic, they are working hard to improve the pub, turning it into a music destination, with bands on from all over. During the festival they had 12 bands and a dance troop perform. The atmosphere was great. Such a change from it's reputation as the alcoholics drinking pub.The Railway inn is due to have a huge refurbishment including new bar and kitchen. This will be very much welcomed, as it does need bringing up to date. And I've also heard they are going to be serving food too!I really hope that the lousy reviews they are getting will improve, as I think the old slate needs to be wiped clean and the new landlords can change this old pub for the better.
